We have three gems for you to witness today. These really fine Tamil movies transcend the boundaries of language and culture. Most importantly, they will keep you gripped by their stories, whether you know Tamil cinema or not.

[1] Maamanithan

The Maamanithan Tamil movie was written and directed by Seenu Ramasamy, and Yuvan Shankar Raja produced it. The film stars are:

  • Vijay Sethupathi
  • Gayathrie
  • Guru Somasundaram
  • K. P. A. C. Lalitha, Anikha Surendran
  • Jewel Mary
  • Shaji Chen

Yuvan Shankar Raja and his father Ilaiyaraaja composed the music. M. M. Sukumar handed over the cinematography, while A. Sreekar Prasad did the editing.

The film hit screens on June 24, 2022. It got a mix of reviews from critics.

The film Maamanithan is about Radhakrishnan and his better half, Savitri. The Radhakrishnan is an honest rickshaw driver. The action begins in Theni, goes to Kerala, and ends in Kasi.

[2] Sabhaapathy  

Sabhaapathy is a Tamil movie directed by R. Srinivasa Rao and produced by R K Entertainment. The film stars Santhanam and Preeti Verma in the primary roles, with music by Sam C. S. It was released on November 19, 2021, and got mixed reviews from the audience. The movie’s streaming rights were sold to Aha.

The story is about Sabhaapathy (Santhanam), who struggles with a stammer, making it difficult for him to succeed in job interviews. His dad, Ganapathy (MS Bhaskar), insists that he start applying for jobs since he’s resigned, and it’s the ideal opportunity for his child to take over the family responsibilities.

Disappointed with everything going on, Sabhaapathy’s life takes a strange turn when a bag full of cash shows up at his home. He chooses to hide it, but things take a twist when the bag disappears. The story follows how the suitcase disappears and whether Sabhaapathy manages to land a job in the end.

[3] Lineman

Lineman is a Tamil drama film. It is written and directed by M Udhai Kumar and features Charle and Jegan Balaji in lead roles, with Aditi Balan making a cameo appearance. Vinoth Sekar and Dinakar Babu produced the film.

In a village in Thoothukudi, where people depend on salt pans for their livelihood, an electric lineman named Subbaiah (Charle) lives with his son Senthil. Senthil creates solar-powered lights to help reduce the risks faced by linemen who are in danger due to illegal electricity connections in the salt pans. However, when Senthil tries to present his invention to the government, he faces many obstacles. Can he achieve success in it?
